The Finnish bluegrass / pop rock band Steve ’n’ Seagulls will release their fifth studio album, The Dark Side Of The Moo, on October 3rd through Playground.
The album The Dark Side Of The Moo, which has been in the works for five years, blends “bluegrass” with “newgrass.” Its musical influences are made up of surprising and unexpected combinations that nevertheless come together like old fishing buddies. The record features both the band’s own pop rock–influenced songs and their interpretations of classic rock and metal tracks from across the decades. The album was produced by Timo Kämäräinen.
The lead single is the band’s own composition, People Just Need To Love You, which steers their sound boldly toward pop rock.
Formed in 2010, Steve ’n’ Seagulls began with the idea of filtering metal, folk, and rock through a bluegrass-inspired lens. Since then, with over 346 million YouTube views, the band has carved out a unique niche where the American sound merges with Finnish identity, both through their covers and original repertoire. The release of their Thunderstruck video in 2014 turned their career into an overnight sensation. Since then, they have recorded five studio albums and toured extensively across Europe and North America, performing both headline shows and festivals in over 30 countries.
Steve ’n’ Seagulls is the first and so far only Finnish band in history to reach the top of the U.S. Billboard Bluegrass chart.
